Amer is a Palestinian-American comedian, activist, speaker, writer, academic, and adjunct professor.

He was born in Jordan to Palestinian refugee parents. His parents moved to America where he grew up in what he calls a white neighborhood. In his comedy shows he jokes about the cultural differences between Arabs and ‘white people’ and he uses his humor as an advocacy tool to educate people on Palestine. He sees comedy as a way of protest, as one of many forms of art that Palestinians use in their struggle for justice.
